AkzoNobel manufactures high-performance coatings to meet the needs of the metal construction and roofing industries. Our complete range of coil and extrusion solutions for the industry includes building and construction, residential, agricultural and commercial applications.
AkzoNobel focuses on giving our customers the best products possible, backed by rigorous testing and quality programs, delivered with unmatched customer service.
Our coatings are optimally formulated to provide superior protection and durability as well as lasting color and gloss retention. Cool pigmentation properties help make application projects more energy efficient and sustainable. These benefits are proven through many years of research, testing, and use.
About Coil Coatings
Our coil coatings meet your commercial goals by drawing on research and development from laboratories across the world to offer well-proven products that combine innovative formulations manufactured to the highest quality standards.
Our coil coating product lines are composed of 70% PVDF and SMP options to suit the varied needs of the industry. 70% PVDF products include TRINAR® A-CLAD for the aluminum composite panel market and TRINAR® TC for the building and construction segment. CERAM-A-STAR®1050, the benchmark of SMP paint systems, demonstrates leading product performance. In addition, CERAM-A-STAR® 1050 Select combines the same leading SMP performance with a standard color palette program that removes complexity by making targeted colors easy.
About Extrusion Coatings
Our goal is to provide the highest quality products and the best service available to the architectural aluminum extrusion industry. We have a complete range of products that will make your next project stand out, no matter what AAMA spec you require. Our TRINAR® products meet or exceed the AAMA 2605 superior performance specification. It is ideal for a monumental project as well as any residential or low rise project that requires lasting durability and a flawless finish.
Product Performance
Our product performance is proven with years of real-world experience at multiple outdoor test sites, exposing our products to the harshest conditions, ensuring they will stand up to the test of time. For decades, we have been testing production samples of our coil and extrusion coatings at weathering facilities in South Florida and other locations around the world. These samples are constantly being evaluated to ensure the products are performing to the high levels expected of them.
Our real-world exposure program is the largest in the industry, with over 80,000 panels exposed to the elements in South Florida alone. We review these test panels regularly to make sure we understand and can predict how they perform in the elements.
In addition to making sure our products perform in the real world, we constantly evaluate the performance of our products at our coater partners. We have a well-developed testing program designed to monitor the use of our products by coaters, which allows us to quickly respond to changes in the application environment. This results in products that are more reliable upon application, with fewer on-line adjustments.
COOL CHEMISTRY®
Our COOL CHEMISTRY® products contain ceramic and inorganic infrared reflective pigments. These special pigments are designed to reflect infrared energy while still absorbing visible light energy, thus appearing as the same color, yet staying much cooler.
When COOL CHEMISTRY® coatings are used, the result is a sustainable building material that can lower air conditioning costs, reduce peak energy demand, and help mitigate urban heat island effects.
Long term durability needs to go hand-in-hand with the gains in energy efficiency that are possible with solar reflective pigments. With COOL CHEMISTRY® formulations, you are getting the same exceptional resin technology as standard versions, along with the benefits of solar reflective pigmentation.
